Tim Thewissen is originally from Belgium and began working sheep in Holland before moving to the UK in 2019. He has since built a successful career as both a shepherd and sheepdog handler, competing at the highest levels in the UK, Europe, and North America.
A four-time Welsh National team member, Tim has enjoyed success with several dogs, including Fellside Finn, Kate, Turk, and Fflandrys Cadi. His achievements include becoming Welsh National Brace Champion, Reserve International Brace Champion, winning the Dutch Open, and placing 6th in the European Nursery Championship.
In 2026, Tim competed successfully in North America, finishing first and second at the Phantom Ridge Trial in Canada with Kate and Turk, and placing third at the prestigious Soldier Hollow Classic in Utah. Reserve Champion at the Inaugural Spruce Meadows SDT in Alberta AND locking in the 2026 Champion at Calgary Stampede World Stockdog Championships!
Alongside trialing, Tim shepherds 4,000 ewes and 120 cattle, judges sheepdog trials, and regularly gives training clinics, sharing his experience with handlers around the world.
