At J Crazy J Stockdogs we strive to use, breed, and raise ABCA Border Collies. My main focus is dogs that can excel on the ranch, but can still also be competitive in the trial arena. We breed only the best dogs that fit my operation. Our goal is good minds, good structure, plenty of stamina, and the ability to manage big groups of cattle, & be soft enough to handle sheep. Our dogs need to have enough instinct to create and manage flow on groups of cattle without being told to do so. When making a cross we consider all working characteristics, as well as taking advantage of genetic health testing.
We currently have two high quality males standing at stud, Sam & Sauce. Both males are proven on the ranch, trial field, and in their progeny.
Sam is a 2020 model who is my ideal dog to use. He’s a lean, long-legged dog. Sam is an upright, foward dog with a good mind and lots of stock sense. He can handle livestock in any environment and is used on all classes of cattle & sheep.
Sauce is a 2019 model who has been used in every aspect of a ranch. He is a bit more bulky than Sam, but still very capable of making a full day’s work. He is not as foward but works great for pairs as he does not seem to disrupt them with small calves at side. He is a very talented, free-thinking gathering dog, great for pastures with creeks and trees.
