Guy & Angie Johnson of Double J Border Collies are open-level handlers and trainers who compete actively in NCA, MSSA, and USBCHA trials. They have been breeding and training top quality working border collies for the past 17 years and providing stockdog clinics for their puppy owners for the past 6 years. What sets them apart as clinicians is their approachability and communication skills. Both come from careers in education and thus have an ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.

This clinic is designed to meet a wide variety of interests and needs from a young dog’s very first exposure to sheep to the person who wants to learn the fundamentals of stockdog training to novice and intermediate trial competitors who are seeking ways to improve their training and handling. We will be using sheep for this clinic. Topics will be based entirely on the needs of individual handlers and their dogs, but typically include many of the following:
Introducing your young dog to stock
Understanding and managing pressure
How and when to use a long line
How to get a stop and recall on stock
Understanding balance
Working with one-sided dogs
Training progression ideas
Teaching on-balance and off-balance flanks and stops
On-site overnight camping is available for a flat rate of $50 that covers you for a three night's stay (no hookups). You can fill with water once you get here.
Lunch provided. Coffee, etc in the morning. Beautiful views and at 6700' above sea-level, this is a great way to escape the summer heat.
