More about Lexy x Sweep

Lexy produced some incredible dogs who have talent in both herding and agility.  We’ve were blessed to have her in our program and our lives.  Her mother, Sweet, was a great head dog, and her sire was Phillip Butler’s successful cattle dog, Booker.  Lexy was super biddable, intelligent, and confident —  focused and keen when working, but able to hang out in the house, office, or truck without driving you nuts.  She did quite well in cattle trials, as she was a clam, steady-minded dog. Her favorite way to hang out in the house was to lay on her back in a recliner right next to you and go to sleep.  It broke our hearts when we lost her to lymphoma in late spring 2021. You only get so many that are that special.  Lexy was 20.5″ tall and 35 lbs.  DNA test results:  CEA-Carrier, TNS-Normal,  IGS-Normal, SN-normal, and MDRI-Normal. BAER tested normal at 4 years.  Hips scored OFA-Good.

Sweep was owned by Loren Holmes of Red Bluff, California, but has since  passed away in an accident. He worked sheep and cattle with confident intelligence, even as a young dog.  His sire, Bob, is Peter Gonnet’s successful open trial dog Bob.   His maternal grandfather is Peter Gonnet’s well-known Moss.   Here’s a short  video  we took of Sweep at Loren’s house in spring of 2016.  Sweep had a great work ethic — he understood the job and wanted to please. He was a medium frame, smooth-coated black tri.  Sweep was DNA tested as CEA-Normal and vet-checked good on hips via x-ray.
