This biddable young dog would shine as a cattle and sheep trial dog for a novice or intermediate handler. He will also be a great everyday ranch partner. He has a good mind and works without tension. His flanks are snappy and square, he stops fairly good, and he is willing to wait for the next command instead of doing his own thing (a trait that novice handlers who are still mastering flank directions themselves will find really handy). I have used him in clinics to help novice handlers get a feel for what it’s like to handle through obstacles when your dog actually obeys your commands. He’s not been used outside to gather in large fields, but he has had some works at the feedlot and gets more and more confident each time. He has a beautiful outrun on both sheep and cattle.
He will tie and watch quietly as you work other dogs, is great with new people and LOVES kids, is clean in his kennel, and hauls well. He ran in a few nursery trials this spring and I was very encouraged by what I saw. Some trial nerves, but overall he kept his head about him.
We will be in Wyoming in mid June and there’s a good chance we can him catch a ride from there to most parts of the U.S. We can also get him to Alberta in July.
