MSSA sanctions arena cattledog and sheepdog trials throughout the United States and Canada. Their national finals, a family-friendly, week-long event featuring both sheep and cattle competitions is held each June in Afton, WY. In terms of total runs, this is the largest stockdog competition in North America. The qualifying year runs from May 1st to April 30th. Nursery dogs competing in the 2024-2025 qualifying year must have been born after October 1, 2021. MSSA Futurity is open to any dog that is of nursery age for the qualifying year and has not been shown before nominating and futurity fees are paid to MSSA. Futurity dogs show in the nursery class at trials during the qualifying year and then in their own class at Finals.
