Herding East Stockdogs Presents a unique clinic combined with a judged field trial to prepare handlers for USBCHA-style field trials. Info from the event flyer:
“Handler/dog teams should be able to send a dog 75 yards and control them at that distance. This is not limited to border collies, but please limit to traditional herding dogs (if you have any questions please contact us).
Format:
June 13th is a catered dinner and presentation. The presentation will cover trial terminology, etiquette and basic structure followed by a high level judging clinic and rule breakdown. Participants should leave with a comfortable understanding of how an average field trial works.
June 14th will include two coached runs in the field. The first will have Randy stand with the handler to coach the handler through every leg of the course. Helping the handler place their dog, read the livestock and earn as many points as possible. The second run will have Randy at the post but only provide coaching where requested or where necessary. The evening we will be having a bonfire for the opportunity to socialize and make your new trial friends.
June 15th is a fully judged trial by Randy where you can practice everything you learned. Participants will be asked to help set sheep, scribe and trial direct. At the end, the judge cards will be provided and placements will be announced.
